Sumter County (WLTX) -- A Sumter County man has died after being hit by a truck as he walked along the side of the road Saturday night.
The Sumter County Coroner's Office has identified the deceased man as 52-year-old Marion McKnight.
Lance Cpl. Josef Robinson of the South Carolina Highway Patrol says McKnight was wearing dark clothing around 9:10 p.m. as he walked westbound on the shoulder of Red Bay Road.
Robinson says McKnight walked into the path of an oncoming 1988 Ford pickup truck, driven by 63-year-old Robert L. Dukes of Sumter.
Dukes, who was wearing his seat belt, was not injured during the accident. Robinson says McKnight died at the scene.
