BATESBURG-LEESVILLE (WLTX) -- A man is dead and another in critical condition after an early morning accident.
Highway patrol officers say it happened at about 4:30 Saturday morning on Highway 378 in Batesburg-Leesville, about a half-mile from the Saluda County line.
Investigators say 40-year-old Christopher D. Manning was driving his Chevy SUV when he lost control and went into a ditch.
Officers say neither Manning, nor his passenger, 25-year-old Jacob Hill were wearing seatbelts, and both were ejected from the vehicle.
The Coroner's Office says Hill died at the scene and Manning was taken to Palmetto Health Richland with severe injuries where he underwent emergency surgery.
