Tropical Storm Fred Forms in Atlantic

(WLTX) -- The seventh tropical depression of the Atlantic season formed Monday afternoon off the coast of Africa, and quickly strengthened into Tropical Storm Fred as of the 11 p.m. update Monday night.

This storm is still way out in the Atlantic Ocean though, off the southern tip of the Cape Verde Islands. It's far too soon to be concerned with, though it does look like it will take a steady turn to the north, while slowing a bit. For now it certainly doesn't look to be a threat to North America.

As of 11 p.m. winds were sustained at 40 miles per hour, and it's moving west at 16 miles per hour.
