Kershaw County (WLTX) - Kershaw County deputies have arrested a man and accused him of killing his wife while she slept.

Officers say 41-year-old Tyrone Keith Frierson has been taken into custody, charged with killing 40-year-old Kisha Frierson.

According to investigators, 911 dispatch got a call at 6:55 a.m. from Keith Frierson. They say he asked for assistance to his home on Ithaca Court in Lugoff. A few minutes later they got call from his teenage daughter, pleading for authorities to arrive. When officers got to the scene, they were met at the door of the home by the victim's 14-year-old son.

Kisha Frierson's body was discovered inside.

"Both of em saw their mother laying there. It'll be a long way back for them. It's a sad day," said Captain David Thomley.

After an investigation, deputies determined that Keith Frierson strangled Kisha Frierson while she was asleep.

Captain David Thomley of the Kershaw County Sheriff's Department says Keith gave a statement admitting to strangling Kisha. The husband was still inside the home when they arrived.

Thomley says the couple's marriage was in trouble and was about to end. Neighbors tell us they are completely shocked and that the family was very kind and seemed happy.

"You don't expect people like that to have a tragedy like this in their life. It's one of those things I never thought in a million years. I just feel sorry for everybody involved all the way around," said neighbor Jerry Garrett.

Thomley says Kisha Frierson was a nurse at Palmetto Richland Hospital in Columbia. A spokesperson for the hospital says counseling is being provided for employees.

The couple's teenage children are in DSS custody and have been placed with family.
