Columbia (WLTX) - Columbia police have arrested a man they say beat a man to death in Columbia earlier this month.
Murder charges have been filed against 20-year-old Vander Daon Meetze in the death of Glenn Ford.
Officers say they got a call of a disturbance at 1:00 p.m. on October 4 in the 200 block of Hanover Avenue. When officers arrived, they found Ford unconscious and laying in the road.
Investigators have determined that Meetze drove up to Ford as he was standing on the corner of Hanover and Hawthorne Avenues. Once Meetze got out of the car, police say Ford began to run, but he tripped . Officers say Meetze then assaulted the victim by kicking him over and over.
Ford was taken to the hospital with several lacerations and possible broken jaw, but was in stable condition. However, on October 7, Ford died from injuries sustained in the assault.
Meetze is currently being held without bond.
