Columbia, SC (WLTX) -- Officials say on Monday, a 22-year-old Prosperity man was arrested after he solicited who he believed was a 13-year-old girl online.
Officers with the City of Mauldin Police Department arrested Edward Rosson Slaton of Old Jollystreet Road in Prosperity and charged with him criminal solicitation of a minor.
Investigators say beginning on July 28, 2009, Slaton solicited sex from who he thought was a 13-year-old girl, but the 22-year-old was actually communicating with an undercover Mauldin police officer.
Authorities were able to seize three laptop computers and one desktop computer after conducting a search on the man's home.
Slaton was detained at the Greenville County jail after being assigned a bond for $25,000.
Slaton's arrest is the 177th for the Internet Crimes Against Children task force, of which both the City of Mauldin Police Department and Newberry County Sheriff's Office are a member.
