ANDERSON, S.C. (AP) -- Authorities say a missing 72-year-old South Carolina man has been found beaten to death and they are searching the area where his body was found for his missing wife.
Anderson County deputy coroner Don McCown told multiple media outlets that the body of Homer Staton of Taylors was found Sunday evening off a rural road about 40 miles from the restaurant where he was last seen Friday night eating with his 68-year-old wife, JoAnn.
Authorities say the couple's car was found a few miles away Saturday, parked on a dirt road in front of a gate with blood stains inside.
McCown says Staton died from blows to the head and may have been beaten in his vehicle.
