West Columbia, SC (WLTX) -- Police are searching for an 18-year-old suspect they say helped pistol-whipped a D Avenue resident.

According to investigators at the West Columbia Police Department, 18-year-old Dennis James McCloud of Dudley Road in West Columbia forced his way into the home at about 7 p.m. on October 22.

"This suspect has shown that he can be extremely dangerous," Chief Dennis Tyndall said in a Wednesday news release, "We are asking for the public's assistance in locating Mr. McCloud."

The second suspect, McKenzie Clarence Boykin, 31, of Kenton Drive in Irmo, was arrested Monday and charged with first degree burglary, assault and battery with intent to kill, criminal conspiracy, armed robbery with a deadly weapon, possession of a firearm during the commission of a violent crime and kidnapping.

McCloud will face the same charges as Boykin when he is arrested, police say.

Investigators say McCloud and Boykin broke into the residence with the intent to rob the victim. The suspects were scared away when the victim's roommate heard a disturbance and interrupted the incident.

The victim is still being treated at the hospital for head injuries from the assault.

Boykin is being detained at the Lexington County jail with a $160,000 bond.

The victim in the home invasion is still hospitalized with head injuries from the assault committed by the suspects.
