"It's pretty much just a small town. Everybody knows everybody's business. They pretty much know everybody. So, it's pretty much like walking into Mayberry, USA," explains Pelion resident Sara Hoover.
When Hoover moved from Spartanburg to Pelion, the slow pace was a welcome change for her. But memories of her former "big city" came rushing back Wednesday night when she saw blue lights racing down the road in front of the restaurant where she works just before 5 p.m.
"Just as I stood up to see what happened, I heard a big explosion noise and dirt flying and a car flips," she recalls, "It was pretty scary, and my first reaction was I knew there was a playground and, 'Were there children hurt?'"
Luckily, none were, but there's no word yet on the condition of the other driver in the accident.
Deputies and the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division's helicopter searched the area Wednesday evening. Investigators have not yet been able to determine descriptions of any of the men.
If you can help investigators find the men, you are are asked to call CrimeStoppers at 1-888-CRIME-SC or text a tip to "CRIMES" beginning with the term "TIPSC."
