Orangeburg County, SC (WLTX) -- Three people were killed in a Tuesday afternoon car accident on US-178, about six miles east of Bowman.
Investigators with the South Carolina Highway Patrol say the accident happened at about 4:20 p.m. when a 2008 Chevrolet pickup truck collided with a 1994 Honda Accord, killing everyone inside the Honda.
Troopers say the Chevy, driven by 26-year-old Martha Metler of St. George, was travelling east on the road before colliding with the Honda, which was travelling west. Investigators say the driver of the Honda, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was pronounced dead at the scene. One passenger was transported by air to Palmetto Health Richland, while a second passenger was taken by ambulance to The Regional Medical Center. Troopers say Chevy passenger 33-year-old Burnell Jones of St. Matthews was not seriously injured in the accident.
