Sumter (WLTX) - A former teacher at a Sumter County high school is being accused of criminal sexual conduct with a student.

Edward Hubbard, 33, is facing charges of criminal sexual conduct with a minor, disseminating obscene materials, and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

An arrest warrant against Hubbard says that between October 23 of 2008 and June 28 of 2009, he engaged in inappropriate sexual conduct with a 15-year-old female. The warrant also claims he allowed the victim to view pornographic materials and gave her alcohol on June 3 of this year.

Hubbard was a teacher at Lakewood High School in Sumter School District Two. District officials say as soon as they found out about the matter they confronted the teacher, and that he resigned.

The matter was then turned over to the Sumter County Sheriff's Department.
