Columbia, SC (WLTX) -- Woodzone in West Columbia is offering a day of free training on how to craft a wooden pen. All of the pen kits, wood blanks, supplies, and shipping also free.
All the handmade pens will then be sent to South Carolina soliders serving in Iraq.
Carolina Pen Turners club will be on hand to help anyone 10 and older. No experience required. The event is Saturday November 7th between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m.
The goal of the "Pen Pal Project" is to send at least 100 handcrafted wooden pens made by people in the Midlands community directly to South Carolina troops.
