Columbia, SC (WLTX) - The City of Columbia Water Works has issued a boil water advisory for water customers on Forest Drive between McDuffie Avenue and Harrison Road, and on Glenwood Road from Forest Drive to Trenholm Road, after a water main break created traffic problems in the area.
Officials released a plan Monday afternoon that they say will remain in the place until the end of the week, and maybe longer depending on weather and the progress of the repair work.
According to a Monday news release, one of the westbound lanes is planned to re-open late Monday night and officials are not planning a detour for westbound traffic.
City officials urge residents to boil their water for at least a full minute before drinking or cooking.
Those who live near the area who have lost water or water pressure are also advised to boil their water before consumption.
The advisory is due to a water main break early Sunday on Forest Drive. City of Columbia Water Works officials continue to work on the problem.
