COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) -- Legislators and Gov. Mark Sanford are about to get the latest estimate on how South Carolina's finances will shape up for the next fiscal year.
The Board of Economic Advisors meets Tuesday afternoon to provide its preliminary revenue estimate.
That three-member panel has mostly been full of bad news for the past couple of years as the state's revenues slowed and tumbled into the worst recession in decades. Most agencies have lost nearly a fifth of their state cash.
Sanford already has begun initial work on a budget that will take effect on July 1 next year and has been holding budget hearings with state agencies.
Along the way he's asked agencies to say what they'll do if they lose as much as 15 percent of their budgets.
