Walterboro, SC (AP) -- Police in South Carolina have charged a man in connection with a drive-by shooting in which three people, including a 20-month old toddler, were killed.
Officers say toddler Shaniyah Burden, 45-year-old Charles Kittrell and 21-year-old Christopher Powell were killed in the Monday night.
The Post and Courier of Charleston reported Wednesday that 19-year-old Danziel Chapman of Walterboro is charged with murder and being held in the Colleton County jail. The newspaper reported that six people were also wounded in the Monday night incident outside a small bungalow in Walterboro about an hour west of Charleston. County officials referred calls to Walterboro police, and a police spokesman did not immediately return a call from The Associated Press seeking comment. Neighbors and relatives said the shooting occurred while a group of people were watching football and playing cards in front of the bungalow.
Colleton County Coroner Richard Harvey says the victims were from Walterboro and were related, though he did not know the relationships.
