ORANGEBURG, S.C. (AP) -- A 36-year-old South Carolina man who told police he accidentally shot an acquaintance in the back of the head has been sentenced to 15 years in prison.
The Times and Democrat of Orangeburg reports Wednesday that Anthony Tyrone Holman of Orangeburg pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter for the July 2008 death of Samuel Jamison III.
Prosecutors said the 23-year-old was sitting in the front seat of a sport utility vehicle when he was shot once in the back of the head.
Homan told police the gun accidentally discharged.
Witnesses said the two weren't arguing before the mid-afternoon shooting.
