Richland County, SC (WLTX) - A man found shot to death on Highway 601 in Richland County has been identified.
Richland County Coroner Gary Watts says his office has tentatively identified the victim as Jackie Edward Crocker. Watts says he knows the man is in his mid 20s, but an exact date of birth is not yet available.
Watts confirmed that the man died of a gunshot wound.
Crocker's body was found Tuesday night on Highway 601 near the Congaree River.
Richland County deputies have not yet said what they believe led up to Crocker's death. Wednesday, investigators said that suspects had been taken into custody in connection with the killing, but did not identify those persons or say what charges they might be facing.
