
Lexington County, SC (WLTX) - Officials are investigating a train wreck that happened Sunday morning in the town of Gilbert, South Carolina.
Robin Chapman, a spokesman for Norfolk Southern, says the wreck occured at about 5:10 a.m. on Hayes Crossing Road. The track speed in that area is 45 mile an hour.
The train was going from Linwood, North Carolina to Savannah, Georgia. The train had two locomotives and ten cars. Eight of the cars derailed, with six turning over on their side. Chapman says one car was carrying sulfuric acid, but was not leaking.
There were no injuries.
