Greenville, SC (GreenvilleOnline.com) -- Authorities said Thursday that a Greenville man was charged with bigamy after his wife of nearly five years told them she received a text message from another woman who said she married the same man in October.

Bobby Lee Peoples, Jr., 34, is charged in a warrant with getting married twice. He was released from the Spartanburg County Detention Facility after posting bond.

A Roebuck woman told authorities she married her husband at the Spartanburg County courthouse in February 2005, and she had the marriage certificate, a Spartanburg County sheriff's deputy wrote in an incident report.

The wife told the deputy that she recently received a text message from another woman trying to reach "Bobby," according to the report. When the wife asked the sender who was looking, the response was that it was his wife, the deputy wrote.

That led deputies to a Greenville woman who lives on State Park Road, at the same address listed on Peoples' warrant. The Greenville woman told authorities she got married in Asheville on Oct. 15, the deputy wrote.
