Monroe, NC (WLTX) - An Amber Alert has been cancelled for a missing North Carolina child who was found in South Carolina.
Officers say 4-month-old Jaleel Xamir Howard was taken from a home on Franklin Street on Tuesday at 10:45 a.m. They say he was later found in Chesterfield County.
41-year-old Lonnie Cecil Buchanan, Jr., who is not the child's father, has been arrested. Reports say that the baby is now in a hospital in North Carolina and his condition is unknown at this time.
Police first located the car the suspect was driving Tuesday night in Pageland, but say Buchanan fled into the woods.
