Columbia, SC (WLTX)- Heavy rains from Hermine have moved into the Carolinas. Forecasters have issued tropical storm warnings near the coast of South Carolina. High wind warnings are farther inland and flash flood watches for the entire state.
A Tornado watch is in effect tor Orangeburg and Clarendon Counties until 4 p.m. Friday. Strong to severe storms are possible throughout the day. Some of the severe storms have the possibility to produce tornadoes in this tropical storm environment, prompting The National Weather Service in Columbia, SC to issue the tornado watch.
The South Carolina Emergency Operations Center is watching the system. Leaders are now in activation mode to support local response.
By Saturday morning, the rains will move out, and we're expected to see a big improvement in the weather for the remainder of the Labor Day holiday weekend.
