Veteran Louisiana cop a hit with Schoolchildren

A veteran cop in Louisiana is taking time in his day to put a smile on schoolchildren's faces. Karen Swensen from News19's sister-station in New Orleans, WWL, reports.

Gretna, LA (WWL) – Recently a lot of citizens have used their cell phones to capture police activity. It happened again Friday in Gretna where a police officer’s treatment of children went viral.

Find the police officer, the one with the sign in the Facebook post, and come back with 20 seconds of video. That was the assignment given to photojournalist Derek Waldrip Friday morning.

In no time, Waldrip knew the story deserved more time to tell. He’d found a gem – one with more facets than the thousands of Facebook likes and shares.

Watch the video of his story on 31-year veteran, Captain Jarvis Jackson.
