West Michigan Lawmaker Sponsors Bill that Cracks Down on Fraudulent Therapy Dogs

Lansing, MI (WZZM) - Peter MacGregor, a Republican state senator from Rockford, wants to prohibit people from misrepresenting their need for a service animal.

He is the sponsor of a bill that cracks down on fraudulent therapy dogs. The bill requires a person to get a doctor's note in order to get an emotional support animal.

MacGregor says the goal of the legislation is to maintain the integrity of the service animals--for those who truly need them.
