Eastover, SC (WLTX) -- 40 firefighters and 21 emergency units were called to a fire at the Finnchem USA plant early Wednesday morning.
When crews arrived at the plant on Wateree Station Road at 2 a.m., 40-foot flames were discovered coming from the rear of the plant. Reports indicate a transformer with 2200 gallons of oil was the source, and foam was used to prevent an explosion.
After 2 hours crews brought the fire under control, and no injuries have been reported. Early estimates show more than a million dollars in damages.
The Richland County Fire Marshal's Office is investigating the cause of the fire.
