EFFINGHAM, S.C. (AP) -- Authorities are looking for two minimum security inmates who walked away from their jobs at a South Carolina cannery near Florence.

Corrections Department spokesman Clark Newsom says Palmer Pre-Release Center inmates 35-year-old Dameon Simpson and 27-year-old Kyle William Norris were reported missing Sunday morning from their jobs at McCall Farms in Effingham.

Authorities are trying to figure out how the men escaped, but Newsome says a cannery employee told authorities he gave Simpson a key ring that included a key to his Jeep Cherokee.

Authorities are looking for a two-door, dark green 1982 Jeep Cherokee with a South Carolina license plate 3306FJ.

Simpson is serving a five-year sentence for hit and run. Norris has less than six months to go on a five-year sentence for 2nd degree burglary.
