Columbia, SC (WLTX) - The developer of Cross Hill Market, Edens, has announced six new businesses that will flank the development's anchor space occupied by Whole Foods.

"Right now, we're about 80% leased," said Herbert Ames of Edens.  "Certainly we have an opportunity here with an anchor like Whole Foods to do something different, a little unique and a little more reflective of the community we're surrounded by."

Edens confirmed Charleston Cooks, Nadeau Furniture, M Boutique, Hand and Stone Massage and Facial, American Roadside Burger, and Jamie Scott Fitness will open at Cross Hill.

"It brings a different customer base, a wider customer base and we're certainly excited about what this will do for this immediate area," said Ames.

Neighbors to Cross Hill Market are also excited about what the development will do for their bottom line.

"We're looking forward to that and to being part of the community," said Joe Corradino, owner of The Diner.  "We wanted something fresh and local and to give something new to Columbia and we figured we could do that."

The Diner opened last week.  The restaurant sits right next to the Cross Hill Market property and serves lunch and dinner.

"Whole Foods is just another bump," said Corradino.  "I think when they come in and we've been here about a year, I think a lot of other things are coming in."
Edens says they expect to be filled to capacity by the opening date, which is scheduled for October of this year. We should know which stores will fill the remaining space by the summer.
