Lexington, SC (WLTX) -- State Troopers say they they have a suspect in custody after a hit and run accident in Pelion last Wednesday Night.
Romeo Romero Jr. turned himself into Highway patrol at 11AM on Sunday morning. Investigators say he was driving the truck that hit 59-year-old Irma L. Hudson around 6:41 p.m. Wednesday.
Troopers say Hudson stopped outside the county dump on Pine Street to pick up trash that had fallen out of the back of her vehicle. A GMC pickup hit her, and then left the scene.
State troopers credit a Pelion police officer with tracing Romero Jr. to the accident scene. Right now Romero Jr. will be charged with the hit & run. The investigation is still underway and additional charges may be filed.
