Irmo, SC (WLTX) -- Lexington County Sheriff detectives arrested a 23 year old Columbia man accused of kidnapping an 11 year old girl and sexually assaulting her at gunpoint.

Eddie Jamar Bamberg of Columbia was arrested Saturday by Lexington County Sheriff Department deputies on warrants of criminal sexual conduct, kidnapping, possessing a weapon during the commission of a violent crime, and possession of marijuana.

Early Saturday morning, the girl's father contacted the sheriff's department to report his daughter had been sexually assaulted.

After taking his daughter to an area hospital for sexual assault examination, the father told deputies that his daughter had run away from home at about midnight Saturday.

At some point after running away, deputies allege that Bamberg took the 11 year old to a motel on Burning Tree Drive near Irmo, and forced the girl into a room Bamberg had rented.

The arrest warrant alleges that Bamberg then forced the girl to smoke marijuana with him, and then have sexual intercourse. She escaped from the motel room a short while later, walking to a cousin's residence where she was able to receive help.

Bamberg is being held at the Lexington County Detention Center on bail totaling $260,000.

If convicted on a felony count of criminal sexual conduct and a felony count of kidnapping, Bamberg will face a maximum of 30 years in prison for each.
