Columbia, SC (WLTX) An arrest warrant has been issued for a North Carolina man who is accused of assaulting a man on Wheat Street last weekend.
According to Columbia Police Chief Randy Scott, an arrest warrant has been issued for Michael Blaszczyk, 22 of Camp Lejeune, North Carolina.
Columbia police investigators are working with the United States Military and North Carolina officials on the extradition process.
Blaszcyzk is expected to be charged with Second Degree Assault and battery, and the arrest warrant will be served upon his arrival in Columbia.
On August 19 Blaszczyk allegedly struck the victim in the face with his fist, knocking him to the ground. Columbia Police department reviewed surveillance video related to the incident.
He is further accused of repeatedly hitting the victim in his face causing severe injuries including a broken nose, cheekbone and black eyes.
The victim was treated at a local hospital and has since been released.
