Lexington County, SC (WLTX) - A judge denied bond for a man accused of using another doctor's identity so he could practice medicine.
In making the decision, the judge said he felt that 48-year-old Ernest Osei Addo was a flight risk.
Addo was transported back to Lexington County Tuesday after spending a week and a half in a Georgia jail. He'd been arrested in Austell, Georgia by law enforcement who were working to track him down after Lexington County got warrants for his arrest.
Addo is accused, by deputies, of taking an Orangeburg doctor's identity, including his Social Security number, and using that information to gain employment at Agape Senior Primary Care. Investigator think Addo may have treated as many as 500 patients between February 15 and August 22 of this year.
Deputies say they have learned that Addo earned a doctor of medicine degree from Central America Health Sciences University in Belize back in 2003. However, investigators say Addo was not licensed to practice anywhere in the United States.
