Columbia, SC (WLTX) -Seeing kids run around EdVenture is not out of the ordinary. But for some of the children, their chances of being born came with a long struggle.

"Without advanced fertility we would not have this little man so we wanted to come here and show him off and let him meet the other kids that came into the world the same way he did," said Suzanne Godfrey.

Suzanne and Weston Godfrey had a difficult time conceiving a baby so they turned to the Advanced Fertility institute for help.

"It was several years of trying which was challenging but the rewards are certainly beneficial. Without the Advanced Fertility Clinic we would not be able to enjoy Greyson and today we are here with him and having a ball," said Weston.

This is the 8th year that the institute has held a reunion for families that they helped to conceive children.
Dr. Gail Whitman-Elia says it makes her feel good to help those who want children of their own.

"I just enjoy helping people have families and I have been very blessed to help people do that. I assist, I don't make it happen but I assist," said Whitman-Elia.

Kevin and Kim Crumpton have been married for 12 years and are thankful that Dr. Whitman-Elia helped them.

"We had a hard time having children so we decided to go see Dr. Whitman and she has been a very big blessing. After 2 years of a lot of shots and trips to her office we have twins," said Kim.

"It just gives me great joy I don't know how better to say it. All of these children are wanted, their parents worked so hard and it's just wonderful to see the fruit of all their hard work," said Whitman- Elia.

Families say all the struggle and doctor visits were all worth it to obtain the gift of life. Something many of them thought could never happen.

"Everyone talks about how amazing pregnancy is and the birth of a child and to us it just seems like even that much more special because of what we had to go through to get him," said Godfrey.
