Columbia, SC (WLTX) - Columbia police say a man has turned himself in on charges he assaulted a man in Columbia's Five Points.
Michael Blaszczyk, 21, is facing a count of second-degree assault and battery.
According to an arrest warrant, Blaszczyk punched the victim in the face back on August 19 on Wheat Street. He then repeatedly hit the man in the man in the face, officers say, breaking the victim's nose and cheekbone and giving him black eyes.
The victim was treated at a local hospital and released.
Blaszczyk is a Marine stationed at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. Columbia police worked with the military to extradite him so he could be charged.
