BELTON, S.C. (AP) - A 47-year-old worker was crushed to death in an accident at a South Carolina scrap metal yard when he was run over by heavy equipment.
The Anderson Independent Mail reports Gamaliel Enriquev-Salzador of Anderson was run over by a machine loading a truck with scrap metal Friday morning.
Anderson County Coroner Greg Shore said the trackhoe was lifting metal in a tight space and the victim either failed to see the machine coming or the operator didn't see Enriquev-Salzador.
Shore says the Anderson County Sheriff's Office and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration are investigating the death.
