Columbia, SC (WLTX) - Columbia police discovered a man's body early Tuesday morning.

The body was discovered in a wooded area at 500 Candi Lane. That's an area just off Interstate 126 near the Saluda River.

Officers say firefighters had gone to the area because of a report of a brush fire.

The coroner's office identified the man as 50-year-old Marion J. Spencer. An exact cause of death has not been determined, but the death is being handled as a homicide.

The coroner's office did add that the body had been burned by the fire.
