Columbia, SC (WLTX) - While many artists are getting ready for national award shows so is one Midlands radio station.

"It's pretty cool to have one of these in your front lobby , you look just like you are one of the artists," said Tony Gee who was holding a Stellar Award the station had won a few years back.  The Stellar Awards are national awards for gospel artists and stations.

You have probably heard him on your ride home from work.

"Wrapping up your Thursday evening with your partner in praise Tony Gee."

This isn't Tony Gee and the WFMV station's first go around at the Stellar awards.

"They don't let you just walk off with these, they actually just mail it to you."

The award isn't given solely on popularity.

"It's a lot of things that go into it like community service and things that you do on the air."

The service in the community is what Gee is most proud of.

"One of the things we love to do is the Spirit of Giving, we have a Thanksgiving Inn where we feed needy families and during Christmas we go get gifts for kids who are in DSS."

He says it's an honor to even be nominated.

"When you are one of hundreds of gospel stations that could be recognized, whether you are in the small, medium or large markets, it is a great thing to be recognized in your particular community."

And with your vote, "I think we can win," said Gee.
