Forest Acres, SC (WLTX) - A fire heavily damaged a portion of a Forest Acres office building.

The blaze began around 6:30 p.m. in the 3700 block of Forest Drive at the Landmark II building.

Columbia Fire Chief Aubrey Jenkins says the fire was located in the first floor of an office building at that location. Jenkins says there is "extensive" damage to the first floor, and some damage to the second floor.

Jenkins says people were inside the building at the time, but it appears all got out safely.

The fire has displaced people working in parts of the building, including Sexual Trauma Services of the Midlands. The group said it will be temporarily closed due to smoke damage.

The group says their 24-hour hotline is still available: 803-771-7273 (Richland and Lexington) or 1-800-491-7273 (Newberry and Sumter).
