Columbia, SC (WLTX) -- Nationally noted topiary artist Pearl Fryar is opening his garden in Bishopville to help the Columbia Regional Red Cross.

Located north of I-20 off Highway 15 at 145 Broad Acres Road in Bishopville, Pearl's garden has been featured in many garden magazines and on HGTV.

Starting this Thursday, Fryar will offer tours of his garden for 3 days, from 10:30am to 4:00pm. On Saturday, October 20, he will demonstrate how to create a topiary masterpiece at 11:45 a.m. followed by a silent auction of pieces from local artists.

The event is free, however, donations are encouraged, with 100% of proceeds raised at the event going to the American Red Cross.

"We are very excited about the Pearl's Open House and his desire to help the local community and the American Red Cross," said Nancy Cataldo, executive director, American Red Cross, Sandhills Chapter.

"We are encouraging everyone to come out to this fun, family-friendly event and support the important work that we provide 365 days a year to members of our community."

BBQ sandwiches and drinks will be available for purchase on Saturday, and entertainment will be provided by Lee Central High School Choir.
