Columbia, SC (WLTX) -- The old funeral home on Gervais and Pickens is getting a facelift with the help of USC.
The former Dunbar Funeral Home will soon be the home of USC's Children's Law Center, which is part of the law school.
According to university officials, they must raise $4.5 million for the entire project. For now, the exterior is the only part of the old mortuary being fixed up.
Repairs to the windows, a new paint job and removing dangerous materials is the first phase. Renovations started about six weeks ago.
Historic Columbia Foundation is also involved in renovation process.
The property was said to be built around 1892 or 1893.
