Columbia, SC (WLTX) -- State Attorney General Alan Wilson's Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force make another arrest.
According to a press release, officers arrested David Scott Pearson, 46, of Mocks Corner on five counts involving the sexual exploitation of a minor, following the download of two files containing child pornography from Pearson's computer.
Deputies executed a search warrant at Pearson's residence on October 22nd, and confiscated a number of computers, hard drives, and storage devices, along with associated electronic equipment.
A preliminary examination of the confiscated material revealed numerous files containing child pornography, with additional charges possible when a computer forensic examination is completed on all items.
Also at the time of arrest Officers confiscated six firearms from the residence, for safety reasons.
Pearson's two young children were placed in the custody of Pearson's mother.
If convicted on all current charges, Pearson faces up to 10 years in prison for each of the two Felony counts of sexual exploitation of a minor, second degree, and up to 10 years for each of the three counts of sexual exploitation of a minor, third degree.
Pearson was assigned a surety bond of $50,000 and was ordered to have no contact with children under the age of 16; no electronic communications devices (cell phones, computing devices. etc.) with the exception of a landline telephone; no Internet use; was restricted from schools, malls and child playgrounds; and must not reside closer than one mile of a school.
