Columbia, SC (WLTX) -- The Columbia City Council will meet Thursday to talk about the new City Manager.
The City Council is holding a special meeting at noon to discuss who will become the next city manager once Steve Gantt steps down.
Gantt has served as interim City Manager since February of 2009 when he took over for Charles Austin. He has been employed by the city since 2001.
When asked through email if he had any knowledge of the city's interview process or the names of those who had been interviewed, Gantt only replied "I have not been involved in the process."
Michael Wukela, a spokesperson for the City of Columbia, says that a few rounds of interviews have been made and now "there needs to be a discussion."
The City would not confirm if they intend on taking today's "discussion" to a vote. Only that they plan on "finalizing" the position.
The City of Columbia website has posted the agenda for the special meeting that calling it: "Discussion of an employee -- City Manager."
The special meeting will be held Thursday at 12:00 p.m. at the Eau Claire Print Building located at 3907 Ensor Ave.
