Lee County, SC (WLTX) - A Lee County councilman was shot in the side of the face during a hunting outing on his farm in St. Charles.

Charles Arthur Beasley, 64, was injured on Monday.

According to South Carolina DNR Capt. Robert McCullough , "on Monday  during a quail hunt  the councilman sustained non-life threatening injuries to his neck, nose and above his left eye when he was shot by another hunter.  The hunter who struck Beasley was a doctor and he treated Beasley, " but then, continued McCullough, "the doctor had a heart attack."  Both men were transported to the hospital and were in stable condition."

Beasley has represented District 6 county council since 1988 and served as chairman until this month.
