Columbia, SC (WLTX) - Filing taxes can be confusing and costly, but you might be able to get your taxes done for free this weekend.

Taxpayers who make less than $50,000 can take advantage of free income-tax preparation thanks to the "Volunteer Income Tax Assistance."

It's going on Saturday from 10am-2pm at The Cecil Tillis Center on Simpkins Lane in Columbia.  RS-certified volunteers provide free basic income tax return preparation with electronic filing.

 Since the program started 5 years ago volunteers have processed more than 8-thousand tax returns totaling more than 10 Million Dollars in refunds.
