Orangeburg, SC (WLTX) -- The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal accident that occurred on US 601 around 3:31am Friday morning.
Troopers say the driver of a 2000 Freight Line Tractor Trailer was traveling north on Magnolia Street when a pedestrian stepped into the road and was struck by the vehicle.
According to officials, the pedestrian was taken to a hospital but later died as a result of the injuries.
The name of the victim has not yet been released.
It is unknown if the driver will be charged.
