CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) - A former Mount Pleasant bank teller has pleaded guilty to taking more than $700,000 from the bank over a 15-year period.

Fifty-nine-year-old Michele Gentry pleaded guilty in U.S. District Court in Charleston on Monday.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Rhett DeHart says Gentry's job at a Bank of America branch in Mount Pleasant included transferring cash from the vault to the teller's drawers.

DeHart says Gentry took $500 to $2,000 at a time from 1996 to 2011.

He says Gentry used fake bank documents and ledger entries to cover the thefts.

DeHart says the theft was discovered by the manager on a day when Gentry was out sick.

U.S. District Judge Richard Gergel has not yet scheduled a sentencing. She faces up to 33 years in prison and $1 million in fines.
