Columbia, SC (WLTX) - Despite the snow flakes and cold rain, about 100 supporters of the Special Olympics jumped into Lake Murray Saturday afternoon.

The Polar Plunge was put on by the SC Transport Police as part of the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics.

Principals and teachers of local schools also got in on the action by raising funds and taking the plunge.

White Knoll raised more than 1,100 dollars, making them the top fundraising school.

A spokesperson for the event said 20,000 dollars was raised and 100 percent of the proceeds will go to the athlete programs.
