Columbia, SC (WLTX) -- In December, 2011, Sears Holdings Corp., KMart's parent company, announced plans to close up to 120 stores nation wide.
At that time, the company didn't specify what locations were to close, but in March of 2012 the Ft. Jackson Blvd. location was put on the chopping block for June of last year.
In a February report by USA Today, Sears Holding Corp. changed their forecast store closings for Sears, now up to a total of 172, and Kmart is expected to close up to 225 stores.
Recently Kmart announced two additional South Carolina store closings: a Greenville location, and the Kmart at 6169 St. Andrews Road, slated to close on May 19th this year.
Sears, citing poor sales performance, a drop in layaways, reported their 2012 4th Quarter Earnings losing $2.4 billion, making their final 2012 financial loss totaling more than $3.1 billion for the year.
