Columbia, SC (WLTX) - Two more officers at the Richland County Detention Center have been placed on administrative leave in the wake of the beating of an inmate.
Sources tell News19 the officers are on leave without pay, and have been recommended for termination.
The source says officers failed to follow jail procedures when they failed to report the incident.
That brings the total number of suspended jail guards to six.
Last month, 37-year-old Robin Smith was charged with assault and battery of an aggravated nature in connection with the injuring of an inmate. According to deputies, Smith stomped on the inmate, causing internal injuries.
Smith was later fired.
