DARLINGTON, S.C. (AP) - A new set of racers will find out if Darlington Raceway is "Too Tough To Tame" at the track's first-ever marathon.
Track organizers announced the series of races this week. There will be a marathon, a 5K and a 10K race on Sept. 28th. Competitors will start from the street across from the Darlington Raceway Museum and end at the track's start-finish line inside NASCAR's oldest superspeedway.
Darlington officials said USA Track & Field will recognize times from the Darlington Marathon as official and times will be eligible to qualify for next year's Boston Marathon.
Darlington Raceway director of corporate sales Jeff Taylor said the track was excited to host the event and bring a big event to the region.
