Columbia, SC (WLTX) - Governor Nikki Haley announced Friday a new partnership assisting in suicide prevention.
It's a statewide suicide prevention hotline that will now enable people to dial 2-1-1 to be connected to a crisis specialist. The service will be offered 24 hours a day and seven days a week.
The 2-1-1 line is operated by the United Way of South Carolina. They provide a range of services to give information to callers from around the state. Veterans, active military, and their families can dial "2-1-1" and then "1" to be connected with a separate veteran's crisis line.
The program can also be accessed online at www.sc211.org.
