Kershaw County, SC (WLTX) - A collision between a school bus and two other cars in Kershaw County Thursday sent 13 people to the hospital.
The Lugoff Fire Department says the collision took place on U.S. 1 near the Pine Mark Subdivision.
According to the Highway Patrol, seven students were transported by EMS and three other students were taken by parents to Kershaw Medical Center. The bus was carrying 54 children from pre-K to 5th grade and a driver all from Wateree Elementary School.
All vehicles were traveling north on US 1. According to troopers, the school bus was stopped and a 2008 Toyota mini van was stopped at the time of the collision. A third car, a 1996 Volkswagon, struck the Toyota mini van, which then struck the bus.
The driver of the Toyota was taken to Kershaw Medical Center along with Amber N. Huff, 25, of Hartsville and a three-year old child who was a passenger in the car. Huff has been charged with driving too fast for conditions.
The district sent another bus to pick up students, and administrators called the parents of the students to let them know about the delay.
